Developed in partnership with Close Brothers and the Clothworkers’ Company
Trainer: Michelle Wright
This course is aimed to develop Trustees into becoming a chair of a Board of Trustees. Too often Trustees find themselves chairing a Board with the ultimate responsibility for the charity’s success and sustainability on their shoulders, but with little support or training. Just as with any organisation, the buck stops with its leadership and Chairs of charities need to feel empowered to know what is expected of them.
These practical sessions will also provide time for Q&A and networking.
Who is it for?
This course is aimed at those with aspirations to become Chairs of an arts organisation or charity, or for those existing Chairs wanting to progress and develop within their role. Participants must have experience as a charity Trustee.
What will I learn?
- The key considerations and skills needed to effectively Chair a charitable organisation
- The legal and financial responsibilities of a Chair
- How to manage the dynamic between Trustees and staff to bring out the best in the overall team
- How to network with other established Trustees to share learning and experiences
This course is part of three themed courses for Trustees on governance.
