Mind the Gap (MTG) is England’s largest learning-disabled theatre company that creates work for UK and international audiences. Our vision is to work in an arts sector where there is equal opportunity for performers with learning disabilities: a world where performers are trained, respected and employed equally, and feature every day on our stages and screens.
MTG works in partnership with learning-disabled artists to deliver a bold, cutting-edge and world-class artistic programme, that impacts locally, nationally and internationally, work that excites, surprises and challenges audiences.
MTG is experiencing a significant increase in demand for international touring work. Over the next three years we aim to strengthen existing partnerships as well as build new ones through a new Creative Europe partnership project, working initially with two learning-disabled theatre companies from France and Sweden.
To support our artistic programme Mind the Gap provides specialist, accredited, training courses for people with learning disabilities through our Academy. The rapidly expanding Academy currently provides full and part time courses in Acting and Dance, where students work towards an Arts Award qualification accredited by Arts Council England and Trinity College, London.
MTG operates with a small and friendly staff team of 7 full time and 4 part time staff. The addition of a dedicated fundraising fellow would make a huge difference to our organisation and increase capacity within our core team to meet the demand for our artistic outputs. A fundraising fellow with fresh experience and training in the areas of fundraising and philanthropy could be a great asset to MTG. 2015 – 2018 are already shaping up to be three years of exciting change and development: in our work, our company structure, and our ambitions. This is a really exciting time for someone with the energy and fresh thinking needed help us achieve our ambitious targets.
