Sage Gateshead

Sage Gateshead is an iconic Norman Foster building opened in 2004 on the South bank of the River Tyne. As the leading North East music venue we hold nearly 500 concerts per year featuring a range of classical, folk, brass, popular and contemporary music. We are also the permanent home of the Northern Sinfonia Orchestra and operate, arguably, the largest music education programme in the world from our Music Education Centre with over 120,000 participants in 2011/12.

You will be joining a dedicated and ambitious fundraising team of six who currently raise over £600,000 annually from Trusts, Corporates, Legacies and Individuals. Sage Gateshead is also part of Arts Council England’s Catalyst Endowment scheme through which we are developing our 10th Birthday Appeal aiming to raise £6 million by summer 2015 to create an endowment fund to sustain our internationally renowned programmes into the future.

As the DARE Fundraising Fellow you will be working closely on all fundraising activity, supervised by the Director and Head of Fundraising. A particular focus will be the 10th Birthday Appeal. This will include our ‘Take Your Seat’ campaign and a telephone appeal as well major gift fundraising. You will be involved in prospect research, cultivation strategies, writing appeal materials and stewardship strategies for donors. There will also be an opportunity to experience Corporate fundraising working alongside colleagues developing new partnership and sponsorship proposals.

The fundraising team is part of the wider Marketing, Communication, Fundraising and Customer Experience Department and so the successful Fellow will gain experience across the department and how it integrates with the wider company.
