Tobacco Factory Theatres produces and presents excellent art in unique and intimate spaces. It is a cultural flagship for the local community, an innovative social and cultural hub and one of the finest examples of culture at the heart of urban regeneration in the country. We produce and present a jam packed programme of diverse and exciting shows, workshops and events from international comedy acts to opera, family shows to modern classics and timeless masterpieces plus an extensive programme of events and activities for artists, audiences and young people.
Income generation is firmly at the heart of Tobacco Factory Theatres’ business model. With a turnover of c£2m, our public subsidy is just 5%. This means that we have an exceptional funding mix with 77% earned income and 18% contributed income; the annual target for the development team is a key part of the organisations funding mix. The next three years are a crucial time for fundraising at TFT as we look to maintain the huge growth in contributed income that we have seen in the last two years. Alongside this, TFT has planned substantial growth in its producing work over the next five years, seeking transformational change to a producing theatre, and so it is an ambitious and exciting time.
The development team at TFT have had huge success in the past 12-18 months and are regarded within Bristol and the South West as leading the way for a diverse funding mix in many of our activities and campaigns. We are keen to support the next generation of arts fundraisers and involve them in our work – we see this as a great legacy for the theatre. Bristol is a great place to live and work and with a thriving cultural scene at the current time we would anticipate a Fellow wanting to remain in the city for the long term, which provides the theatre with a great legacy for supporting our future fundraising work.
