Writers’ Centre Norwich (WCN) is a dynamic literary organisation whose mission is to develop the artistic and social impact of creative writing, reading and literary translation and promote access to the best in world literature with national and international partners. We are audience focused and art form led, with a clear agenda of excellence, engagement and experimentation.

In 2012 we became England’s first and only UNESCO City of Literature, a global accreditation that recognises our outstanding literary history, our vibrant contemporary scene and our commitment to using the literary arts as a means of delivering benefits to those who live in, work and visit Norwich and Norfolk. At the heart of our commitment as a UNESCO City of Literature is the development of a National Centre for Writing in Norwich. In April 2015 we are moving into Dragon Hall, an outstanding Grade I listed building in the city that will become our new home. Over the course of the next eighteen months, we will finish raising the funds to build a new wing on to Dragon Hall and renovate some key spaces within the existing building to provide living spaces for writers and translators in residence and an education space for our work with young people and local communities.

We’re excited about welcoming a Fundraising Fellow into our organisation at this time and are looking forward to sharing our passion for creative writing, reading and literary translation with a new member of staff. The Fellow will work across the full range of our development and fundraising activities and be supported to grow her or his experience through a set of tailored projects with the assistance of key staff and Board members. The Fellow will engage with campaigns, events, donor cultivation, reciprocation, research and analysis – the full range of development activities, in fact.

We are a learning organisation that invests in our staff as our most valuable resource; many of our staff are themselves writers and artists. We value energy, commitment and tenacity – and in return offer a great team environment in a wonderful city.
