Resilience and Leadership in Arts Fundraising
The world of fundraising has changed immeasurably. Tried and tested methods of fundraising no longer appear to be enough, and fundraisers are facing increased pressures from funders, regulatory bodies, and boards.
Fundraising is increasingly central to how organisations develop, as well as their project activity. Fundraisers are increasingly acknowledged as leaders in their organisations and the sector. This all creates challenges when it comes to resilience and leadership in the arts, culture and heritage sector.
This training is designed to support fundraisers within the arts, culture and heritage sector, giving participants the confidence, knowledge, skills and networks to thrive in a challenging climate.
Who is it for?
This course is for arts, culture and heritage fundraisers looking to develop their knowledge and understanding of resilience and leadership in arts fundraising. You will come away with a framework for thinking about creative resilience, and for collaborative leadership that supports fundraising.
The course will cover the following content:
- The core components of resilience in the arts
- Creative resilience as change not survival
- The role of money in resilience
- The implications of resilience for fundraising
- Fundraisers as leaders
- How to multiply leadership and resilience
This course will be delivered virtually via zoom on Wednesday 18th November 2026 – 10am to 1pm

Trainer: Mark Robinson
This course will be delivered by Mark Robinson, Founder of Thinking Practice, a consultancy working to build the creative resilience of the arts, culture and heritage sector.
Mark is a writer, researcher, facilitator, strategist and coach, with extensive experience in arts leadership and funding. From 2005-2010, Mark was Executive Director of Arts Council England, North East, and he currently sits on the Board of Unfolding Theatre and on the Oversight Board for Middlesbrough Art Week/The Auxiliary. In 2021, Mark wrote and published Tactics for the Tightrope, a book, manifesto, and toolkit exploring creative resilience for creative communities.
